With the focus on building healthy communities, we plant values of love, compassion, and empathy through storytelling, prayers, meditation, and the act of sharing. The program focuses on the children coming from diversified cultural and socio-economic background. We create an environment to harness child’s creative nature and to gain knowledge out of their experience. We wish to give them their rights and want to create a better India. Shwas wants your help to sponsor a center with 40 kids. Shwas will also provide complete supplementary education to 40 kids.

The estimated budget is Rs.16,000 per month for a center with 40 kids which includes academic support, stationary, etc

Project Challenges

The only difference between the underprivileged and privileged- is the availability of resources and opportunities. Poverty and other problems faced by kids comping from such a background hold them back. They are'not able to compete with other children of their age. Their inner potential remains untapped.

Results & Outcome

Realising the disparity that exists in the society we resolved to bridge this gap. 32 lesser privileged kids are going to private schools now. Their entire expenses are taken care of by donors. Academic fees along with stationery and uniform expenses are covered for them which makes it easier for them to focus on studies and pursue their dreams.

Moreover, we not only focus on giving them formal education but also on creating geniuses out of them. We believe that every kid is a leader of tomorrow and classroom learning is never enough. Hence we impart training in different extracurricular activities such as craft and sports etc. We identify kids with innate talent in specific fields and giver him/her guidance, support and further training and assistance in making them masters of what they do.

About Ngo

Shwas is an effort started by a group of volunteers to educate the underprivileged kids of Gulbai Tekra, Ahmedabad since year 2009. We attempt to provide safe and healthy environment to children coming from disadvantaged families, so that they can openly share with us the challenges they face that hold them back from aspiring their dreams. Shwas teaches kids every day for two hours. Our focus is value-based education, which includes teaching manners, inculcating sense of hygiene and helping them to follow and fulfill their dreams. We also enroll potential students into private school to ensure continuous quality education. Also, we celebrate festivals, birthdays and events with them like a family.
