About the Project

Shwas in collaboration with KarmaKonnect attempts to provide a safe and healthy environment to children coming from disadvantaged families so that they can openly share the challenges they face that hold them back from aspiring their dreams and work towards achieving them. The evening study center program caters to low-income and slum kids around Ahmedabad and from diverse socio-cultural backgrounds. In addition to providing complete supplementary education to kids, we create an environment to harness child’s creative nature and to gain knowledge out of their experience. With the focus on building healthy communities, we plant values of love, compassion, and empathy through storytelling, prayers, meditation, and an act of sharing. The volunteers can take up the core value teaching sessions with the children that include:

1. Civic duties and rights awareness.

2. Nation first & Dharma Shrestha.

3. Narration of Indian Super Humans (Maha Purush) to our children.

4. Working on Swatch Bharat Mission.

5. Gender Sensitivity- Respect & Empowerment of the Girl child You can accomplish this through daily lessons, interactive play, Videos & Picture learning methods.

About the NGO

Shwas is an effort started by a group of volunteers to educate the underprivileged kids of Gulbai Tekra, Ahmedabad since year 2009. We attempt to provide safe and healthy environment to children coming from disadvantaged families, so that they can openly share with us the challenges they face that hold them back from aspiring their dreams.

We teach kids every day for two hours. Our focus is value-based education, which includes teaching manners, inculcating sense of hygiene and helping them to follow and fulfill their dreams. We also enroll potential students into private school to ensure continuous quality education.
